The Y Lacrosse League ("FlyLax") is a
competitive recreational league for youth girls. The league has
three primary age groups High School, Middle School and Elementary K-3.
Practices are conducted on a league wide basis with all trainers and
coaches together.
Summer League participants will have the added option of registering as
part of preselected team.
Other teams will be created after evaluations by trainers and coaches
during the first several weeks. All games usually occur on the same date, time
and location. Over 1,250 participants have enrolled in our
program
since 2006.
Our league is unaffiliated with FHSAA,
BCAA or any high school. Our league is a competitive/recreational
league. We have been instrumental in
training all levels of players from Cardinal Gibbons, Saint Thomas Aquinas, Pine Crest, University
School, North Broward Prep, Cypress Bay, Douglas, JP Taravella, Nova, South Plantation,
Chaminade-Madonna, American Heritage, Western and South Broward HS. During your school's spring high
school season you will play in either the FHSAA League (Varsity) or IA League (US
Lacrosse Club League).
The Fall Ball League prepares players
for their official Spring season.
There are now five varsity girls/boys programs in
Broward County competing in the 2008 FHSAA league including Pine Crest, University
School, Cardinal Gibbons, St. Thomas and North Broward Prep; and high school club teams
competing in the US Lacrosse administered IA League including Stoneman
Douglas, Cypress Bay, South Plantation, Nova, Taravella, Western,
American Heritage and Chaminade-Madonna.
We
actively pursue assisting all area high schools in
their start up. We will
train girls and coaches to help facilitate the development of your
high school program. The BCAA sanctions high school sports for public high schools
in Broward County.
The BCAA will sanction lacrosse if ten (10) Athletic Director's of
BCAA member school field club lacrosse teams and then request the BCAA
to sanction the sport.
Lacrosse 101 for Soccer Players
Very important ...many parents do
not sign up their children for some activities because of scheduling
conflicts with other activities. While they would like their child
to participate, they believe it is rude to the coach not to show up to
all or most of the practices or a games. That is NOT the way we
want you to look at lacrosse. Come to as many or as few practices
as you can. All we want to do is teach this game to your children.
We will gladly work with whatever time you give us.
