by FlyLax posted 11/23/2009 FlyLax offers three (3) competitive leagues for girls middle school, high school; and adult women and college teams; as well as, and select-level all-star teams competing in regional and national tournaments in the summer and fall season.
FlyLax staff provides training on a league-wide basis for the middle school and high school teams. For the most part, all games are scheduled on the same date, time and location. Over 1,400 participants have enrolled in our program since 2006.
FlyLax is unaffiliated with FHSAA, BCAA or any high school; or MSAA (middle school) or any club. Our coaches have been instrumental in training all levels of players from Cardinal Gibbons, Saint Thomas Aquinas, Northeast High, Pine Crest, University School, North Broward Prep, Cypress Bay, Douglas, JP Taravella, Nova, Cooper City, South Plantation, Chaminade-Madonna, American Heritage, Western and South Broward HS. During your school's spring high school season you will play in either the FHSAA League (Varsity) or IA League (US Lacrosse Club League). FlyLax Fall Ball League prepares players for their official Spring high school or middle school season.
FHSAA varsity teams from Broward County now include American Heritage, Cardinal Gibbons, North Broward Prep, Pine Crest, University School, St. Thomas. Club teams competing in the US Lacrosse administered high school IA League include Chaminade-Madonna, Cooper City, Cypress Bay, South Plantation, Stoneman Douglas, Taravella and Western.
In Broward County the sanctioning body for public high school and middle school athletics is the
BCAA. The BCCA does not currently sanction lacrosse for either girls or boys unlike its counterpart in Palm Beach County which sanctions just girls lacrosse. Many public school boards sanction both middle and high school girls lacrosse including Collier County, Palm Beach, Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin, Seminole and Orange counties.
Very important ...many parents do not sign up their children for some activities because of scheduling conflicts with other activities. While they would like their child to participate, they believe it is rude to the coaches, parents and other players not to show up to all or most of the practices or a games. That is NOT the way we want you to look at lacrosse. Come to as many or as few practices as you can. All we want to do is teach this game to your children. We will gladly work with whatever time you give us. We emphasize safe and competitive play.
