Representative John P. "Jack" Seiler
Congratulates our Ambassador Award Recipients

July 25, 2008 - Representative John P. "Jack" Seiler took time from his busy schedule to congratulate these five (5) young ladies on their recent award stating:

"It is a pleasure, honor and privilege to extend my warmest congratulations to you on receiving the 2008 Ambassador Award from the East Broward YMCA.   Your remarkable accomplishment in volunteering to become a certified US Lacrosse umpire to overcome a shortage of women's lacrosse umpires is highly commendable.   Being selected is a well deserved honor and a fitting tribute for the extraordinary amount of time you devoted to this worthy cause.  You have earned the respect and admiration of your peers and of this community, and I thank you for making Broward County a better place.   Best wishes for continued success."

John P. "Jack Seiler"
State Representative, District 92

2008 Ambassador Award Recipients

April 2008 - The Board of Directors of the East Broward YMCA congratulates the following young ladies for being selected recipients of the Ambassador Award from the East Broward YMCA.

Megan Harmon (Class of 2009), St. Thomas Aquinas High School
Samantha Gomez (Class of 2010), Cardinal Gibbons High School
Sarah Motta (Class of 2011), Cardinal Gibbons High School
Kristie Neubauer (Class of 2009), Cardinal Gibbons High School
Lindsay Savin (Class of 2009), University School

The Ambassador Award is given annually to the high school volunteers who make an extraordinary contribution of their time; and model the highest level of behavior by upholding the YMCA core values of respect, responsibility, honesty, caring, faith and fun, while teaching youth within the YMCA programs and community.

All of these young ladies volunteered an extraordinary amount of time this past fall to become certified US Lacrosse umpires so that the YMCA could overcome a shortage of women’s lacrosse umpires.  These young ladies can be found working lacrosse games throughout South Florida. In addition to obtaining her lacrosse umpire certification, one of our recipients gave up a good part of her summer to become a USSF soccer referee so as to officiate games for the YMCA travel soccer club, Fort Lauderdale Select.  We have also come to count on several of our recipients to faithfully give their time as youth coaches during the weekly training sessions.

Congratulations to all our young ladies on this recognition.
